Do I need permission to have a Doula?
It has been the experience of most doulas that the concept of a doula is welcomed. However, there may be reservations from individual medical staff who may not understand the roles of a doula. We have found that once a health professional has worked with us, they appreciate the skills and support that we bring to the birthing team.

However, the birthing woman has the right to ask for support from whomever she feels the most appropriate for her birthing journey. If your health professional is unsure, we happy to provide them with information to allay any concerns. Alternatively, we are also able to accompany you on a few ante-natal appointments or classes on request.
Hospitals, private midwives and most GP's in our region are aware of our services and we have provided talks at the local hospitals.
